FAQ

Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
  • Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
  • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 800-985-3059.

In a post-pandemic world, do you offer in-person sessions?

Yes! I love to work in person, because I like to be in your energy and I’m starting to wonder if staring at screens all day is taking a toll on my vision!

That being said, I am happy to offer virtual as a way to honor your own needs and unique situation. In fact, all of my own personal healing sessions with therapists and coaches are virtual so can appreciate the value of this.

Is there anything I need to do to prepare for my first session?

Before we meet, I will send you an invitation to my online portal where you will set up your login and complete initial paperwork including standard practice policies, privacy practices, initial intake form, demographics, and consents for therapy.

Generally, I will use the first session to review my practice policies and go over any information from your intake that I may still have questions about. We will then have the remainder of our time for you to either ask me some questions, dive right into material that you want to address, or we can work on goal setting.

Some clients like to come in with clear goals that they are ready to get started on. Others need a bit of time to feel into the relationship and get clear on how they want to work with me. I welcome all of it and am happy to guide you as needed.

I like to start our sessions with a few minutes of mindfulness to land in the space and connect with ourselves and each other.

Where is your beautiful office located?

I currently see clients in person out of 2 locations:

My professional office in Central Boulder: 2955 Valmont Rd, Suite 310

My private office in Boulder is part of a suite of other therapists that offer a variety of services, including cranial sacral sessions, accupuncture, and ketamine-assisted therapy. I share the private office with a friend and colleague who offers play therapy for kids.

The office is on a top floor suite with beautiful views.

I work out of this office on Tuesdays and Fridays and Sundays, with some availability at other times depending on office availability.

My home office in Gunbarrel (Northeast Boulder):

I provide client’s with a unique experience by inviting them into my private home office, with a separate entrance, restroom, and garden views.

Here I offer you a very private and confidential experience in an intentionally curated soothing environment amongst exquisite decor, beautiful plants, singing bowls, crystals, and my tiny helper angel Penny.

Penny is a loving Chiweenie (Chihuahua and dauschund mix) in process of getting her therapy dog certification. She provides gentle and loving support during sessions and enjoys lots of belly rubs.

Limited availability for home sessions outside of the Valmont location office hours.

Are you able to accommodate my unique schedule with your business hours?

I currently have openings:

Mondays (In Person): 3:30pm – 7:00pm

Tuesdays: 11am – 7:00 pm

Thursdays (Virtual): 10am – 6pm

Fridays (In Person): 11am – 6:30pm

I get that it can be tricky to fit therapy into your work schedule or routine. For that reason, I offer a range of times in attempt to fit your needs. If you want something outside my normal business hours, lets talk. As long as I can fit in my own personal wellness practices that support me in showing up as my best self for you, I am happy to accommodate!

How long are sessions?

I offer standard 60 minute sessions and 90 minute sessions for more in depth work. We can discuss which option is right for you after we have an initial 60 minute meeting.

How do I schedule an appointment?

Our initial appointment will be scheduled after your free consultation to make sure we are a good fit for working together. From there, we can schedule next sessions during our meeting time or you can use my online schedule for current clients to book future appointments.

What is your cancellation policy?

I currently have a No-Cancellation Policy, AKA the Generous Reschedule Policy. You are not able to cancel an appointment once it has been set, yet you can reschedule it within the week prior, that same week, or the week after. If you do not reschedule within the 3 week period, you will be charged for the session. All reschedules require a 24 hour advanced notice or you will be charged for the session.

Every client gets 2 freebie cancellations per 6 month period that only requires a minimum of 15 minutes notice to cancel and does not need to be reschedule. This can be used at your discretion for personal reasons, emergencies, or illnesses.

I have a an online scheduler that can be used to reschedule appointments at your convenience and keep my office schedule and planned time away current on my website.

I have found that this policy creates greater consistency and better outcomes for clients, while allowing me to keep a smaller caseload so that I can be more focused on our work together.

How much do sessions cost?

60 minute sessions cost $175 and 90 minute sessions cost $250.

Many of my clients purchase packages:

$1100 2-month package includes 2 90 minute sessions a month and unlimited texting support between sessions and 1 20 minute call between sessions.

$750 1-month package includes 4 60 minute sessions and unlimited texting support between sessions and 1 15 minute call between sessions.

Do you take Insurance?

No, I do not accept insurance. After contracting with insurance companies as a therapist for several years, I came to the understanding that I cannot ethically serve you best while operating under their specific guidelnes and criteria for treatment. I’m happy to share more if you are curious about how using insurance for mental health impacts your treatment.

That being said, I am considered “out-of-network” with your provider and many insurance companies offer out-of-network benefits to help off-set costs to you. If you choose to go this route, I can provide you with a super-bill to submit to your insurance company on your own.

How do you take payment?

I accept credit card or venmo. Payment is due at the time of your appointment.

What are some qualities of your clients that make your work more powerful?

When it comes down to it, some of your qualties that will make are work more successful include:

– A desire to deeply look at your own experience and the responsibility your patterns play in it.

– Somatic awareness or at least the desire to explore what your body has to say to you.

– An openness to possibility. We can’t solve a problem with the same mind that created it. When you let go of what you think you know or who you think you are, your potential becomes unlimited.

– A belief in the unknown. Whether that means something deeply mystical and spiritual to you, or is simply a beginners mind attitude, this will help you take risks and experience those new possibilties.

– Trust in the process. Growth is a process of experimentation and it is sometimes messy. Being willing to hold space for breakdowns in order to have powerful breakthroughs can greatly assist your transformation. And don’t worry, you won’t have to do it alone. We will only push the edges as far as is safe for your own unique nervous system.

How would you describe yourself as a therapist?

Being a therapist is not a hat that I put on just when I work. It’s part of who I am. I’ve spent my life diving deep into my own personal landscape to cultivate compassion for myself and mine the wisdom from my more challenging experiences. Being with my clients is a way of being, not a particular doing. The tools I choose to use when working with you are informed by my deeper intuitive guidance in the moment. That being said, I see this as a co-created relationship and one of mutual healing and recovery. Your healing is my healing.

How do you handle issues of diversity and inclusion?

I am sensitive to everyone’s unique background, culture, orientation, and identity. This is something that I talk about openly in sessions to get clear on what your individual experience is and how I might be able to support you.

Personally, I identify as a bi-racial, sis-gender, heterosexual, female. My pronouns are she/her/hers. I continue to do the work to recognize the ways that I carry power and privilege in addition to the ways I experience oppression.  That being said, there is always more work to do.

I see that as my responsibility to educate myself around the ways you identify so that you don’t have to, while welcoming open dialogue about any potential power dynamics and blindspots that may show up in our relationship.

How does your therapy approach differ from other mental health professionals who treat my problem?
